Please join us on November 11th, 2017 (Saturday) for an exciting and unique Sitar-Violin Duet Concert by The Rising stars of Indian Classical music - Shakir Khan (Sitar) (Son & Disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez ) & Tejas Upadhye (Violin) (Son & Disciple of Pt. Atulkumar Upadhye).

They will be accompanied by Nilesh Randive on Tabla.

Shakir Khan is one of the most promising young exponents of the legendary Etawah Gharana, energetically following in the musical footsteps of his prodigious father and guru - the sitar maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. Shakir has performed brilliantly for prestigious music conferences in India including the Dover Lane Music Conference(Kolkata), Sawai Gandharva music festival Pune, Tansen Music Festival (Gwalior) and many more. He has also performed extensively worldwide, bringing the joy and subtlety of the Etawah Gharana to audiences in the US, Canada and Europe. Shakir's talent has also found official recognition, the young sitar virtuoso winning a Government of India merit scholarship and first prize at the All India Radio (AIR) Music Competition. In 2008 he also received the award for Best Upcoming Artist of the Year from the Padmayan Charity in Mumbai. Like his father, Shakir Khan stands out for his exquisite sense of sur (melody) and laya (rhythm)

Tejas Upadhye is the son and disciple of Violin Maestro Pt. Atulkumar Upadhye belonging to the Bhaskarbua Bakhale Gharana, in the playing technique he has improvised with glimpses of Pt. Gajananbua Joshi and their style of playing extensively represents Pt. Shridhar Parsekar ji's style. His performance is a perfect mixture of Gayaki & Tantakari mould. To his credit Tejas has been performing in many concerts with his father and guru Pt. Atulkumar Upadhye in major concerts all over India. He has also performed in European countries such as Germany, UK and Switzerland. He currently plays a lead role in organising Swarazankar Music festivals all over the country at more than 25 cities. He is also involved in various fusion and duet concerts with many renowned artists of the young generation. His pleasent personality and ever evolving artistry is a delight for all the audience. For the first time, he is visiting the United States for a concert tour.

Nilesh Ranadive is a tabla artist from India. He trained under the guidance of Pandit Suresh Talwalkar and has been featured at prestigious shows in India and abroad. Ranadive's performances are marked by his versatility. He has performed with the fusion band, 'New Life', and has also with Rahul Sharma, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pandit Ajay Pohankar, Begum Parveen Sultana, Aarti Ankalikar and Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar, amongst others.
